REVERSE is Afterglow’s signature anti-aging laser protocol using the Aerolase Era Elite. It’s a structured series of treatments designed to systematically address the visible signs of aging – fine lines, skin laxity, uneven texture, pigmentation, and dullness – and visibly turn back the clock over time.

What Is REVERSE Skin Therapy?

REVERSE is Afterglow’s signature anti-aging laser protocol using the Aerolase Era Elite. It’s a structured series of treatments designed to systematically address the visible signs of aging – fine lines, skin laxity, uneven texture, pigmentation, and dullness – and visibly turn back the clock over time.
REVERSE is not a single treatment. It’s a protocol – a deliberate, progressive approach to skin rejuvenation that delivers compounding results with each session.

What Does REVERSE Address?

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Loss of skin firmness and elasticity
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Sun damage, age spots, and hyperpigmentation
  • Dullness and overall lack of radiance
  • Mild acne scarring and surface irregularities

What to Expect

Assessment

We start with a VISIA skin analysis to get a baseline of your skin’s current condition — capturing surface texture, pigmentation, pore size, and UV damage not visible to the naked eye.

Treatment Series

REVERSE typically consists of 4–6 Era Elite sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Each session builds on the last, stimulating progressive collagen remodeling and skin renewal.

Maintenance

After your initial series, maintenance sessions every 2–3 months sustain and continue to improve results. Many patients combine REVERSE with neurotoxins, fillers, or HydraFacial for a comprehensive skin program.

What to Expect

Sessions take approximately 45–60 minutes. You may experience mild redness and light peeling for 3–5 days following treatment — similar to a mild sunburn. Results build progressively, with the most significant improvements visible after the full treatment series.

Quick answers to questions you may have

Is REVERSE different from a regular Era Elite treatment?
Yes – REVERSE is a structured protocol rather than a one-off treatment. The sequence and spacing of sessions are designed to maximize cumulative results. Think of it as a skin transformation program, not a single appointment.
Who is REVERSE best for?
REVERSE is ideal for patients in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who are starting to notice significant changes in skin quality and want a medical-grade approach to reversal. It’s also popular with patients in their 30s who want to proactively address early signs of aging.

SAFETY

Safety information

Read this before your treatment, and tell your provider about any condition or medicine it mentions.

Contact us if you notice blistering, oozing, spreading redness or signs of infection after a treatment.

Who should not have it

  • Pregnancy, an active skin infection, or certain medications: the AAD says skin-tightening procedures aren't right in these cases, and some medicines make skin more sensitive to laser light.
  • A recent tan or sunless tanner: skip both before treatment.
  • Tell your provider first if you scar easily, have ever had a keloid, get cold sores or genital herpes, have taken isotretinoin, or take any medicine, including aspirin.
  • Breastfeeding, as well as pregnancy: studies of this laser leave out both.
  • Lupus or another condition that makes skin sensitive to light, or a medicine that does: a hospital trial of the Neo Elite lists these as reasons not to treat.
  • Sunburn in the area to be treated.
  • Tell your provider first if you have epilepsy: studies of this kind of laser leave it out.

Common side effects

  • Redness, swelling and discomfort, usually gone in 1 to 3 days.
  • Occasional bruising for a few days.
  • During a course of acne treatment, acne can flare for a while and skin can feel dry. These were the most common effects in a 225-patient study of the Neo Elite.
  • On psoriasis patches, crusting, sometimes with small spots of blood.
  • After the Era Elite, a resurfacing laser: redness for a few days to a week while the skin heals.

Serious risks

  • Blistering and burns.
  • Cold sore outbreaks and infection.
  • Lightening or darkening of the skin, and scarring, which can be permanent. Darker skin is more prone to burns and dark marks.
