Aerolase Neo Elite is a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser that delivers powerful energy in ultra-short 650-microsecond pulses — penetrating deep into the skin while bypassing the surface. This makes it uniquely safe, comfortable, and effective for virtually all skin tones and types, including darker complexions that many lasers cannot safely treat.

At Afterglow, the Neo Elite is one of our most versatile devices, treating everything from active acne and redness to pigmentation, vascular lesions, and overall skin rejuvenation – often with no downtime at all.

What Can It Treat?

  • Active acne and acne inflammation (NeoClear protocol)
  • Redness, rosacea, and facial flushing
  • Hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and melasma
  • Vascular lesions and broken capillaries
  • Fine lines and skin texture
  • Overall skin tone and clarity
  • Psoriasis and inflammatory skin conditions

Why the Neo Elite Stands Out :

Safe for All Skin Tones

The 1064nm wavelength bypasses surface melanin, making it one of the only medical-grade lasers safe for Fitzpatrick skin types IV–VI without risk of hyperpigmentation.

No Downtime

Unlike ablative lasers, the Neo Elite treats without damaging the skin’s surface. Most patients return to their day immediately with minimal to no redness.

Comfortable

The ultra-short pulse duration prevents heat buildup. No cooling gel or numbing cream required for most treatments.

What To Expect

During Treatment

Sessions take 20 – 45 minutes. You may feel mild warmth or a light snapping sensation. Most patients find it very tolerable.

After Treatment

Skin may appear slightly flushed — resolves within hours. Acne patients may experience a brief purging phase in weeks 1-2. Pigmentation and vascular lesions often darken briefly before fading.

How Many Sessions?

Acne responds well within 4-6 sessions. Pigmentation and vascular work typically requires 3-5 sessions. Maintenance treatments sustain results.

Quick answers to questions you may have

How is the Neo Elite different from the Era Elite?

The Neo Elite (1064nm) excels at acne, redness, rosacea, and vascular concerns with zero downtime. The Era Elite (755nm) is optimized for resurfacing and deeper anti-aging results. Many patients benefit from both.

Is this safe for darker skin tones?

Yes – this is one of the Neo Elite’s biggest advantages. It was specifically designed to be inclusive and is one of the safest laser options for patients with deeper complexions.

SAFETY

Safety information

Read this before your treatment, and tell your provider about any condition or medicine it mentions.

Contact us if you notice blistering, oozing, spreading redness or signs of infection after a treatment.

Who should not have it

  • Pregnancy, an active skin infection, or certain medications: the AAD says skin-tightening procedures aren't right in these cases, and some medicines make skin more sensitive to laser light.
  • A recent tan or sunless tanner: skip both before treatment.
  • Tell your provider first if you scar easily, have ever had a keloid, get cold sores or genital herpes, have taken isotretinoin, or take any medicine, including aspirin.
  • Breastfeeding, as well as pregnancy: studies of this laser leave out both.
  • Lupus or another condition that makes skin sensitive to light, or a medicine that does: a hospital trial of the Neo Elite lists these as reasons not to treat.
  • Sunburn in the area to be treated.
  • Tell your provider first if you have epilepsy: studies of this kind of laser leave it out.

Common side effects

  • Redness, swelling and discomfort, usually gone in 1 to 3 days.
  • Occasional bruising for a few days.
  • During a course of acne treatment, acne can flare for a while and skin can feel dry. These were the most common effects in a 225-patient study of the Neo Elite.
  • On psoriasis patches, crusting, sometimes with small spots of blood.
  • After the Era Elite, a resurfacing laser: redness for a few days to a week while the skin heals.

Serious risks

  • Blistering and burns.
  • Cold sore outbreaks and infection.
  • Lightening or darkening of the skin, and scarring, which can be permanent. Darker skin is more prone to burns and dark marks.
