Quick answers to questions you may have

How often should I get NAD+ injections?
Many patients start with 2x per week and taper to weekly or bi-weekly maintenance. Your provider will recommend frequency based on your goals.
Can I do both injections and IV therapy?
Absolutely – a common approach is a high-dose IV to load, followed by regular injections to maintain levels.

SAFETY

Safety information

Read this before your treatment, and tell your provider about any condition or medicine it mentions.

Tell the nurse right away if you feel pain, swelling or burning at the IV site, shortness of breath, or chest discomfort during an infusion.

Who should not have it

  • People with kidney disease: kidney failure has been reported after IV vitamin C in people with a history of kidney disease.
  • People prone to kidney stones: the NCI says they should not be treated with IV vitamin C.
  • People with G6PD deficiency, an inherited condition: high doses of vitamin C may destroy red blood cells (hemolysis).
  • People with hemochromatosis (iron overload): high doses of vitamin C are not recommended.
  • For NAD+: pregnancy or breastfeeding. NAD+ has not been studied in either.
  • For NAD+: kidney disease, liver disease or active cancer. Safety information in these conditions is very limited, so tell your provider first.
  • For NAD+: tell your provider about every medicine you take. How NAD+ interacts with other medicines has not been well studied.

Common side effects

  • IV vitamin C has caused very few side effects in clinical trials (NCI).
  • For NAD+ by IV: flushing, nausea, belly discomfort or cramping, and chest pressure, more likely when the drip runs faster.
  • For NAD+ injections: pain, discomfort or burning where the shot is given.

Serious risks

  • Kidney failure in people with a history of kidney disease.
  • Hemolysis (destruction of red blood cells) with high doses in G6PD deficiency.
  • Fluid overload, reported in one study of IV vitamin C.
  • For NAD+: severe chills, shaking and vomiting have been reported when an NAD+ product was contaminated during compounding (FDA).
